We recently launched our 8th annual Global Patent & IP Trends Indicator. Some compelling facts from the report include that more than 41% of respondents filed over half of their patent applications overseas in 2016, compared to 34% who said the same the previous year.
Corporate Counsel recently featured the report on their website and highlighted a few key findings. They noted that although intellectual property (IP) budgets continue to be cut across the industry, filings are on the rise and in-house counsel are finding ways to do more with less when it comes to their companies’ IP.
Popular strategies to deal with these budget constraints include filing in fewer countries (40.3%), bringing work in-house (35.5%) and negotiating with foreign counsel as opposed to local counsel (27.4%).
