Building a better future together: The RWS Foundation and CLEAR Global

The power of collaboration cannot be overstated. Especially when you have two organizations coming together with a clear purpose - to improve lives globally. CLEAR Global (formerly Translators without Borders) was selected as The RWS Foundation's first beneficiary in 2023 as it closely aligned with the Foundation’s purpose of unlocking global understanding by breaking down language barriers. In case you’re not familiar with CLEAR Global, the organization is a non-profit global community of linguists who help people in need to get vital information and be heard, whatever language they speak.
Ever since we joined forces with CLEAR Global our relationship has gone from strength-to-strength. In addition to the funding provided by The RWS Foundation, RWS now supports the organization by sharing resources and providing support with our network of in-house language specialists and project managers.
A look back at 2024
In January 2024 The RWS Foundation once again committed to becoming a Sapphire Sponsor for CLEAR Global and we are delighted at what we achieved together. Over the past year, CLEAR Global and RWS have worked together on several impactful projects:
- We helped to translate The Prevention Project from English to Panjabi Gurmukhi. This allowed CLEAR Global’s partner, Ally Global Foundation, to provide materials for school-aged children and their caregivers to navigate issues relating to sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and high-risk behaviours.
- RWS helped facilitate the support of CLEAR Global’s partner European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation (ENGSO) to advocate for integrity in sport, for instance through the development of educational and informative tools for sport federations and information around equality, inclusion, well-being and safeguarding.
- With the Royal College of Anaesthetists in the UK, RWS helped ensure that information about anaesthesia and preparing for surgery reaches the diverse communities in the UK where health inequalities are most often found.
- We helped The Global Social Service Workforce Alliance publish a high-value document, 'The Role of the Social Service Workforce in Children’s Care and Care Reform' in Spanish and French.
