RWS recently hosted a seminar titled 'Getting a European Patent: Considerations when drafting and prosecuting before the EPO' at the Shenzhen Nanshan Intellectual Property Protection Center. More than 40 people from respected tech companies and IP law firms attended the seminar. The seminar was hosted jointly by AWA IP and organized by China Intellectual Property Magazine and Shenzhen Nanshan District Intellectual Property Protection Center.

As China's innovation center, Shenzhen has always been at the forefront of the international protection of IP rights. Against the background of national laws and regulations related to IP rights and increasingly strong and powerful protection measures, Shenzhen will continue to be a focus for growth within the industry. This is especially relevant considering the latest statement from the Party Central Committee and State Council that “strengthening protections for IP rights is an important part of improving the system of protections for property rights and is also the largest drive for increasing our nation's economic competitiveness.

The seminar was the first in a series of seminars on utilizing resources specific to countries and regions, sharing a deeper exploration of topics in IP and the technical aspects of IP legal practice and IP rights. RWS looks forward to engaging with Chinese IP applicants on these topics and assisting with their IP strategies. To view a recording of the seminar, click here.
