Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is part of RWS Moravia’s “Special Forces” Sales team in North America, reporting to the Sales Director for North America. Leading the appropriate RWS Moravia team members and resources through all steps in RWS Moravia’s customer-centric (CCS) based business development process, the BDM’s primary responsibility is to create customized solutions and turn business opportunities into customer acquisition.

What will you do?

  • Work with Sales Director to identify appropriate target list that is in line with RWS Moravia’s ideal customer criteria and business acquisition goals
  • Work with Sales Director to set and achieve weekly personal targets, which will lead to the achievement of sales goals
  • Work with various RWS Moravia colleagues and resources to develop solutions that will meet Prospective customer’s business goals
  • Lead the business development cycle and coordinate the participation of ideal resources from Marketing, Executive sponsors, Sales management, Production experts and Solutions Architects to drive the business development cycle to close with targeted prospects
  • Log and maintain all contacts into sales database, ensuring they are constantly up-to-date; perform regular reporting as required by management
  • Follow-up on all leads, developing ongoing relationships with prospects to position RWS Moravia as the vendor of choice when an opportunity arises
  • Ensure that pricing levels negotiated with the customer meet a corporate target profit level, and (re)negotiate contracts as appropriate
  • Assist in providing higher visibility to the company by participating in trade shows, possibly speaking at conferences and writing articles for publication
  • Negotiate favorable terms for master services agreements with major clients, often in the range of $100,000 to $500,000 + in revenue
  • Research, identify and suggest tools which may facilitate or enhance the process of building prospects or pipeline; implementation and development of expertise in such tools
  • Act as an escalation point if a client issue arises and support resolution of same
  • Train new colleagues (induction) and supports Associate BDMs consistently, setting targets related to prospecting
  • Travel to prospects and new clients as necessary

What should you have and know?

  • Fluent in English; additional language knowledge a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite
  • Knowledge of localization and/or testing + engineering services
  • High level knowledge of commercial translation tools is a plus
  • High level knowledge of commercial testing tools is a plus
  • Focus on business: awareness of competitive environment, ability to always look for new opportunities
  • Outstanding phone and networking skills
  • Proactive approach to work, self-starter
  • Customer-oriented skills (listening skills, ability to understand goals, general business knowledge)
  • Strong organizational and administration skills
  • Higher business education; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 – 5 years of sales experience, as an individual contributor, required
  • Demonstrated large account sales success; Fortune 500 a plus
