Five new Paris Convention countries added to the inovia agent network

To keep up with our clients‘ needs, we’ve added new countries and agents to our global network. Please read on for the summary of each country and details regarding agents and forms:

Panama
Country code: PA
Deadline: 12 months
Language: Spanish
Agent: Bufete Mejia & Asociados
Power of Attorney: Yes* (general and specific options)
Assignments: Yes**
Late filing: Translation can be filed late (due within 2 months of filing date, $165 late fee for agent)
Excess Claims Fee: No
Examination Request: Deferred
* Power of Attorney document and the included Notary Certificate need to be completed and then legalized by The Apostille or nearest Honduran Consulate. Must be filed within 2 months counted from the filing date.
** Assignment of Invention (one document per inventor) needs to be legalized by The Apostille or nearest Panamanian Consulate. Must be filed within 6 months counted from the filing date.

Philippines
Country code: PH
Deadline: 12 months
Language: English

Priority document: Certified true copy of the priority document(s) together with its English translation, if not in English, is due within six (6) months from initial filing of the application (with details needed at filing).

*Legalization or notarization is NOT required. Must be filed within 2 months from the receipt of Office Action requiring submission of the same.

Thailand

Priority document: Certified copy of the priority document(s) due within 16 months from the priority date (with details needed at filing).
Power of Attorney: Yes* (general and specific options)

* Power of Attorney must be notarized. Must be filed within 90 days counted from the filing date.
** Assignment to be signed by assignor(s) and assignee(s) and does not need to be notarized. Assignors can sign on separate Assignment forms, although each separate form must contain assignee’s signature.
*** If the applicant and the inventor is the same person, the applicant must submit a simple signed Statement of the Applicant’s Right. This does not need to be notarized.

* Originals need to be filed but neither notarization nor legalization is required for the forms. In case the forms cannot be submitted at filing, it is possible to file late as a response to the NOIP’s Notification of Deficiencies (at a cost) within 1 month, with an extension of further 1 month, from the date of Office Action.
