Countdown to World Intellectual Property Day

Countdown to World Intellectual Property Day

World Intellectual Property Day, which falls on April 26th every year, is a day dedicated to learning about the role intellectual property rights play in the bigger scheme of innovation. This year’s theme is Powering Change: Women in Innovation and Creativity, which highlights and celebrates all the ways women have contributed to and been the driving force in shaping the future.

As we prepare for the big day we wanted to highlight a few organizations that provide resources and support for women in the IP field. Find one near you and get involved on the big day!

Global Women Inventors & Innovators Network:

A not-for-profit formed in 1998, this network provides a variety of training & mentoring, workshops, research programs and more to assist women in developing their inventions, providing support, and helping to navigate the IP field.

Association of Women Inventors and Entrepreneurs (AOWIE):

Founded by Lisa Ascolese, this non-profit organization hosts conferences, networking events, and boasts an online community as well, centered around financial guidance and mentorship for inventors. Membership to AOWIE includes access and discounts to consultations and product reviews.

IP Inclusive: Women in IP

Falling under the umbrella of the IP Inclusive initiative, this group seeks to support women already working within the IP profession and encourage the next generation of female IP practitioners to join the profession and climb through its ranks.
