What is your profession?

Biologist

What is your education background?

Master’s degree in medical biotechnology

What, if any, experience do you have in patent research?

I started during the university to get interested in patent research by attending some courses on intellectual property, later my competence has grown exponentially as AOP researcher

What skills are the most useful in your research with AOP?

Some useful skills are: curiosity, elasticity because every research is different and requires a specific approach, a scientific background is of help and it is always necessary a lot of patience because each research requires many hours of work to be completed successfully

How did you first learn about AOP?

On Google, I was looking for some news about patents

What languages do you speak?

English and Italian

What do you enjoy most about being an AOP Researcher?

I can organize the work as I prefer, I can work on AOP at any time and this allows me to achieve better performance in searches, the platform is excellent and I hope it will not be changed

What is the most challenging aspect of AOP Research?

The initial phase of each research is always a challenge for me, it is necessary to read the patent carefully to understand the key points

How can AOP improve your researching experience?

I would like an improvement of mobile use, it would be nice to have an app, sometimes I had to use the phone to edit some submissions but it was not easy

What have you learned about researching, technology, or patents since joining Article One?

I improved my technological skills and I learned to extract concepts and « key points » after the first reading of any patent

How will you use your reward money?

I use the earnings to travel, this helps me to improve the English; I also bought some useful tools including a new PC, software, printer, and even some training courses

Would you recommend researching with AOP to a friend or colleague? Why or why not?

I recommend it but it is not for everyone, few people have the technical and scientific skills necessary to successfully complete the studies of AOP

What are your Top 3 Tips for being an AOP Researcher?

  1. Carefully read the patent and focus on the key points
  2. Carefully read the material in the « known prior art »
  3. Start with the research based on keywords, phrases and concepts extracted from previous phases

What is the most exciting story or discovery you have made while searching for prior art?

it’s a very satisfying moment for me every time I arrive at the conclusion of a study with a high number of in-scope submissions, this indicates to me that I have conducted a correct research strategy
