Chinese Intellectual Property News – June 2013

Hi everyone! Our friends at AFD China have released another great IP newsletter this month, and we’ve picked out a few highlights for you below:

  • On a recent visit to Switzerland, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang promoted the idea of “technological cooperation” between European and Chinese enterprises.
  • June 5th marked the 5-year anniversary of the implementation of the Outline of National Intellectual Property Strategy, a plan with the overall purpose of strengthening China’s capacity to “create, utilize, protect, and administer intellectual property.”
  • Government officials in Dalian have reported a 10.6% increase in trademark applications in the first four months from a year earlier; however, China is still working to generate more marks of “international significance”.
  • The Alibaba Group has joined forces with SIPO leaders to toughen up on intellectual property right (IPR) violations.
