Industry Updates from WIPO’s PCT Newsletter
Hello everyone. WIPO released their first PCT Newsletter for January 2014 and we have compiled some highlights for your consideration.
Four more Offices have signed up to pilot the PCT Patent Prosecution Highway, bringing the number of participating Offices to 17. The four most recent countries to join the Global PPH Pilot are as follows:
- The Hungarian Intellectual Property Office
- Icelandic Patent Office
- Israel Patent Office
- Swedish Patent & Registration Office
PCT Information Updates
European Patent Office (EP):
As of April 1, 2014 there will be a change in the amount of the following fees, payable to the EPO as receiving office :
- Transmittal fee – EUR 130
- Fee for requesting restoration of the right priority – EUR 635
Spain (ES)
As of January 1, 2014, the following fees have been changed payable to the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office:
- Transmittal fee – EUR 74.25
- Fee for priority document – EUR 29.69
Kyrgyzstan (KG)

There has been a change in the fee for restoration of the right of priority payable to the USPTO as a receiving Office with effect from December 18, 2013:
- Fee for requesting restoration of the right of priority – USD 1,700
- In the case of a filing by a “small or micro” entity – USD 850
