You may know that our New York office building was without power during the week of October 29 due to Hurricane Sandy, which battered the United States’ northeast coastline. The storm brought significant rain and wind to Manhattan, which resulted in widespread power outages, tunnel and bridge closures, and public transportation delays. Many businesses in lower Manhattan shut down entirely for the week. Our office finally regained power on November 3, so this week we are happy to be back up and running again at full speed.
Never missing a client’s deadline is critical to our business. Since our start 10 years ago, we have not missed a patent deadline and last week was no exception, despite not having a “home base” to work from. Our New York team, scattered throughout the five boroughs, worked remotely through the week to keep business running smoothly. Our IP Group, which handles invoicing, instructions to our foreign associates, and client inquiries, worked around the clock (sometimes in the dark!) to make sure that our clients were well taken care of. We’re very fortunate to have a great team of people that is dedicated, resourceful, and of course fun to work with.
We’re also fortunate to have other offices around the globe who can provide 24/7 support. Our Munich and Sydney teams provided overflow and after-hours support last week to ensure that we could provide the highest level of service to our clients despite the storm.
We know that trust is a critical element to our business. To gain our clients’ trust, we aim to be fully transparent (about our pricing and agent network), responsible (in never missing a deadline), and dedicated to client support.
