RWS’s Protect team in China has been named ‘Outstanding IP Service Team in China (2025)’ at the Enterprise IP Strategy Forum and Annual Conference of In-house IP Managers, held in Beijing.

This recognition marks the fourth consecutive year the team has received the award, following previous wins in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Recognition from the Chinese IP community

The Enterprise IP Strategy Forum and Annual Conference of In-house IP Managers is a well-established annual event, bringing together in-house counsel, IP leaders and industry experts to discuss developments in intellectual property strategy, regulation and innovation.

This year’s forum, themed ‘Consolidate & Elevate: Innovate to Cultivate the New’, attracted hundreds of participants from across the IP ecosystem. As part of the event, the 2025 Outstanding IP Service Teams were selected following a structured evaluation process.

RWS China Protect was recognized following a comprehensive review that assessed areas including professional capability, service processes, IP research expertise, team stability and innovation. The assessment included analysis and in-person interviews, providing an external perspective on how the team operates in practice.

Consistency over time

Receiving the award for a fourth consecutive year highlights the continuity and consistency of the China Protect team’s work, as well as sustained recognition from the local IP community.

Ethan Zhang, Vice President of RWS APAC Protect, accepted the award on behalf of the team at the Beijing event.

Commenting on the recognition, James Lacey, CEO of RWS IP Protect, said:

“We are proud of the China Protect team for securing this recognition again. It reflects the team’s ongoing commitment to their work and the trust placed in them by clients and peers in the Chinese market.”

Supporting IP work in a complex market

For in-house legal teams and IP law firms operating in China, effective IP support depends on reliability, local expertise and the ability to maintain service standards over time.

RWS’s work in China supports clients across key areas of the IP lifecycle, including patent translation, foreign filing, renewals and IP research. The team combines local market knowledge with global IP infrastructure and technology-enabled workflows, supported by human expertise at every stage.

The continued recognition at this forum reflects how that approach is applied in practice, year after year, within a fast-evolving regulatory and commercial environment.
