Derivative content reuse
Description
Derivative content reuse is what allows organizations to adapt core information without losing control of its origins. In Tridion Docs and other Component Content Management Systems (CCMS), derivative reuse is governed by parent-child relationships. When a derivative component (the child) is created, it inherits all the content of the parent. Any updates to the parent can be tracked and selectively incorporated into the child, keeping variations aligned while allowing local or contextual changes. This method combines the best of both worlds – central consistency with local flexibility. It reduces redundant authoring while ensuring that every version of content, whether global or localized, remains accurate and connected to its source.
