Language pair
Description
Language pairs are fundamental to translation and localization workflows. They determine which resources – such as translators, translation memories (TM), machine translation (MT) models and quality metrics – are applied to a specific project.
Each language pair requires its own linguistic and cultural expertise. For example, translating between two related European languages presents different challenges than between languages with distinct scripts or grammar systems. These differences influence word order, idiomatic expression and tone. In RWS workflows, language pairs are managed centrally within Trados, Language Weaver and enterprise TMS platforms. This enables accurate tracking, versioning and reuse of bilingual assets – ensuring consistency, efficiency and quality across all projects and markets.
