National phase entry
Description
The PCT system allows inventors to file a single international application that reserves the right to seek protection in over 150 member countries. However, to actually obtain protection in those jurisdictions, applicants must complete a national phase entry – typically within 30 or 31 months from the earliest priority date.
This stage involves submitting translations of the application, paying national fees and meeting each jurisdiction’s procedural requirements. Because every country has its own legal framework and linguistic rules, accurate and compliant Patent translation is critical. RWS manages national phase entries through its global Intellectual Property Services network. Our experts coordinate filing and translation across jurisdictions, ensuring linguistic precision, procedural compliance and timely delivery. By combining in-market expertise with centralized project management, RWS simplifies complex patent workflows and helps clients secure protection worldwide.
