PCT National Phase Entry
Description
After a PCT application is filed and reviewed during the international phase, the next step for securing patent protection in individual markets is the national (or regional) phase. This stage typically occurs within 30 or 31 months from the priority date of the initial application.
Each national phase entry involves submitting a localized version of the PCT application to the relevant patent office. Because requirements differ between jurisdictions – including language, formatting and documentation – accurate and compliant patent translation is critical. RWS manages PCT national phase entries through its global Intellectual Property Services network. Our team coordinates filings, translations and validations across markets, ensuring every application meets national laws and linguistic standards. This approach streamlines complex patent workflows and helps clients protect their innovations efficiently and consistently worldwide.
