Target language

The target language is the language into which content is translated or localized. It is the end product of the translation process and must accurately reflect the meaning, tone and intent of the original source language while sounding natural to the reader.

Description

In translation workflows, the target language represents the final output that audiences will read, hear or interact with. High-quality translation depends on both linguistic accuracy and cultural relevance – ensuring that every word fits naturally within the target audience’s expectations and norms.

Each target language version of content is carefully adapted to its market context. This includes terminology, grammar, tone and formatting conventions that differ from the source. Maintaining consistency across target languages requires well-defined translation style guides, terminology databases and Linguistic quality processes. At RWS, target language accuracy is achieved through a combination of expert linguists and intelligent technology. Using Trados and Language Weaver, RWS ensures every translation delivers precision, fluency and cultural authenticity – regardless of scale or subject matter.
