The Globally Speaking podcast is back and looking better than ever, with a fresh host for each season and an exciting guest list. If you're interested in getting helpful insights into the future of content, communication and technology, this relaunched podcast is a must-listen. The Globally Speaking conversations provide perspectives on the state of the industry, the impact of technology, and the various challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
The redesigned podcast will be broadcast once a month and will be divided into 4 seasons - for a total of 3 episodes per season providing a great source of information for anyone in the language industry or anyone interested in taking their business global.
The podcast kicks off with Andrew Thomas, our language industry expert, who has taken over the reins as the host for the first season, bringing a wealth of experience and insights to the show. With the first 3 episodes of season 1, you'll be able to immerse yourself in conversations about the challenges of unlocking global understanding and creating hyperlocal customer experiences. Find out how businesses can unlock a high level of understanding of their clients - who want relevant content, meaningful communication, accurate information and personalized experiences - and who want it all in their own language, 24/7, on any device.
In the first episode of the relaunched podcast, Andrew is joined by Renato Beninatto, the co-founder and chairman of Nimdzi Insights, the international market research and consulting firm. Renato is a leading expert in the field, and he and Andrew allow us to sneak into their conversation that covers a variety of topics, from the current state of the language industry, the future of technology to what unlocking understanding really means.
One of the key themes of this first episode is the rapid changes happening in the industry, driven by technological advances. Renato takes the opportunity to highlight the importance of looking back to older patterns as we move forward and face new challenges, because traditional problems can sometimes be projected into the future.
Andrew and Renato also discuss the future of machine translation, where Renato shares his thoughts on how neural machine translation may have reached its peak in terms of speed and quality for languages like French, Italian, German and Japanese. Analyzing your business needs and comparing machine translation solutions to find the best engine for your use case will therefore become fundamental. In this context, project management and project managers, who are in charge of ‘managing the complexity’ of localization projects, are also very important, as this is an aspect that cannot be automated.
Be sure to keep an eye open for future episodes and season 2, which will focus on consumer culture and attitudes to language and localization in fast-growing emerging markets. In Season 3, we will look at how technology can help customers go global faster, and Season 4 will focus on global content trends.
